ASTAT: Adolescent Short Term Assessment and Treatment Program

The ASTAT program offers a Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (CBT) approach with Dialectical Behavioral Therapy (DBT) components for adolescents ages 13 to 18. This group is a 5-7 week intensive outpatient program held four days a week.

The program is designed to stabilize adolescents in their home, school and community through intensive treatment intervention strategies including CBT approaches and hands-on DBT skills. We offer referrals to psychiatry, individual, and family therapy and include active consultations with schools, social workers, probation officers, individual therapists, family therapists and other providers.

An additional component of group is parent group. This is an opportunity for parents to develop an understanding of the skills and be an integral part of their adolescent’s treatment and progress. Minneapolis parent group is on Monday from 5:30-6:30pm. Eagan parent group is on Tuesday from 5:30-6:30pm.

The program is offered in our Eagan and Minneapolis locations. Group is held during the following hours throughout the year.

Tuesday: 2:30 - 5:30 Tuesday: 3:30 - 6:30
Wednesday: 2:30 - 5:30 Wednesday: 2:30 - 5:30

The program offers:

Assessments within three business days concentrating on the areas of symptoms, past and present history of illness, current functioning at home, in school and in the community

Crisis Interventions


Follow-up contacts with referrals as needed to ensure a positive outcome
Comprehensive evaluation from a variety of perspectives including: medical, behavior both at home and school, and family.
Referrals for family assessments and therapy
Active collaboration with all community services involved including: medical, mental health providers, and schools
Referrals for psychiatry services
The program combines cognitive-behavioral, solution focused, and educational approaches targeted to the developmental level of the client served.
Skills training based on evidence-based model of Cognitive Behavioral Therapy with aspects of Dialectical Behavior Therapy
Treatment tailored to fit the adolescent's needs
Upon completion of ASTAT, adolescents can attend a once-weekly aftercare program for skills maintenance

bull Do you often feel "out of control" and have a difficult time slowing yourself down?

bull Do you feel empty and bored much of the time?
bull Do you experience sudden and strong mood swings?
bull Do you have trouble controlling your anger and have frequent outbursts or physical fights?
bull Do you have an inability to regulate your emotions?
