What is the difference between a  Psychiatrist and Psychologist?

Psychiatrist

A Psychiatrist is a specially-trained medical doctor who has developed an expertise to delve more closely into the biochemistry of the brain — to try to adjust chemical imbalances that can cause mental distress and other mental disorders.  Many psychiatrists also offer psychological counseling.

Psychologist

Generally speaking, a Psychologist is a Mental Health Professional who is trained to help individuals better understand themselves and learn why they behave in certain ways, and to help those individuals modify their perceptions and adjust their behaviors to achieve greater happiness and fulfillment.
